Acne Treatment

FLAT SCARS

Flat scars can be treated with topical applications containing kojic acid, arbutin and retonoids. These chemicals work wonders on dark spots and erase away any remaining evidence of acne from your face. Apart from this, flat scars can also be effectively treated with chemical peels and microdermabrasion techniques.

PITTED SCARS

The pitted variety of acne scars require some more care than the flat ones. Depending on the depth of the scars, there are a number of options that one can choose from, to solve the problem.

Microdermabrasion

A popular skin resurfacing technique that removes the outer layers of the skin, it utilizes a fine, controlled spray of crystals to reveal the underlying areas of healthy skin. Safe for any skin type and colour, most people notice results immediately. When used in addition to a good skin care regime, healthy skin can actually become a reality!

Chemical Peels

The safest variety of chemical peels are of the Glycolic variety which can be used in different concentrations depending on the severity of the scar. Chemical peels work by dissolving the binding substance that glues the skin cells together, which in turn causes peeling of the skin. A fresh and unscarred layer of skin will be revealed once the uppermost layers peel away.

Subcision

The perfect answer to shallow acne scars with broad bases, subcision is a procedure done to remove scarred tissue and allow fresh, unscarred tissue to surface. The procedure results in the formation of new collagen, which pushes up the base of the scar making the skin appear less pitted. After complete healing, another session can be carried out if necessary.

Fraxel

One of the most popular treatments for fractional aesthetic skin resurfacing which delivers remarkable results with hardly any downtime comes to us through Fraxel technology. It resurfaces the underlying scar tissue without breaking open the overlying skin. This non invasive laser treatment allows you to rediscover the fresh skin underneath the scarred layers. This fractional treatment results in both rapid reepitheliazation of the epidermis as well as rebuilding of collagen, which amount to unscarred and beautiful skin. Fraxel is effective and safe on all skin types with a short downtime of 3-5 days during which time the skin may appear red and feel swollen. The treatment requires several sittings and can be repeated every 4-5 weeks.

Dermal Fillers

As a quick fix solution or as a final step to other treatments, dermal fillers do the trick. A highly sophisticated hyaluronic filler, which is found naturally in the skin as well, is used to fill up the pits with a fine needle. The filler material lifts each pit to surface level. The results are instantaneous and the treatment has no downtime. However, the effects are temporary and it will need to be repeated every few months.

Dermaroller

Acne scars occur due to a lack of collagen. Dermarollers increase the levels of collagen in your skin causing it to renew and repair itself. A simple hand held device, the dermarollers causes the pores of the top layer of skin to part without damaging the skin. The dermaroller has fine pointed pins on a roller surface which when rolled on the pitted area causes multiple pin-point punctures which allows the skin to better absorb any creams or active ingredients that maybe applied The pores naturally close in again after an hour or so and the pinpoints also help in inflammation and re-collagenation of the skin.
